Week Four

[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[Salieri glances over as Spongebob approaches, attention taken away from his next move. His expression softens into a small smile, though, as Spongebob comes closer]

Spongebob. Good afternoon.

Oh, I'm sure our Maestro would love a reprieve. My knight is about to turn his pawns over to my side.

[He fidget a little, avoiding eye contact.]

W-well, I know you guys aren't my parents, or anything, but you've been so nice to me, so I...

[He trails off, and hands the both of them handmade cards.]

I thought you two might like this.

[Salieri blinks, startled]

You...? [he'll reach out to accept that card, surprise in his expression] For the both of us--?

[disharmonizes]

[Well, he is completely caught off guard, and stops leaning onto his knight to just... take that?]

Oh-- [...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--] Well... thank you...?

Of course I made it for the both of you. You've been nothing but nice to me and I feel like I haven't been able to return the favor.

[The front of the card seems relatively understated, at least for Spongebob. It's a plain, but colorful paper, both with "I just wanted to thank you..."

When they open it up, they are instantly shot with a bomb of glitter and confetti, and each has been personalized with little pop up drawings. Salieri has him as an eel with Spongebob, and Discord has him as a seadragon with Spongebob. They both look happy.

Along with that, there is a little personal message for each. Salieri's says "Eel always treasure our friendship!" and Discord's says "I sea a lot of fun adventures in the future!"

Both of them say "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!" at the bottom in big bubble letters.

As they look at their cards, Spongebob nervously looks at them, trying to evaluate their reactions.

[Salieri blinks at the card, something warm and touched already swelling his chest--

--though at the bomb of glitter and confetti, he jumps at least half a foot in the air.]

[Once he realizes what that was, however, he refocuses on the item in his hand, and there's something in his chest that tightens with emotion. There's glitter and confetti in his hair and all over him, surely, but he's hardly thinking about it as he looks at the image that's been drawn, at the smiling faces.

Spongebob had said that they all looked different to him, so this must be--]

You...[it's them. Spongebob and Salieri. It must be. The message is adorable and sweet, but what really gets him having to blink rapidly is the declaration of "Happy Father's Day!" at the bottom.

Salieri swallows hard, clearing his throat, looking up]

It's...thank you, Spongebob. [he smiles, small and genuine] I love it.

[disharmonizes]

[The glitter and confetti bomb is definitely unexpected... and absolutely delightful. He maybe laughs a little as it happens, because oh, that's good.

And then he actually looks down and reads the card and

oh.

Oh, that's... really sweet and nice and... he doesn't even know how to handle this?]

Ah... Yes. Thank you. [This is so much more softness than he's used to and he feels all thrown off.] This is... very kind.

And I do love a good glitter bomb.

[Hearing their reactions, Spongebob's eyes well up in tears as he pulls them both in for a hug.]

Oh I knew the glitter was a good idea! Sorry it's nothing fancy but I wanted to give you guys something as a thanks! I really love you guys, you know.

[Salieri startles a little bit as he's pulled in for a hug, but that passes quickly, and he'll certainly reciprocate, wrapping an arm around Spongebob's shoulders]

It's perfect, Spongebob, truly. [he glances at Discord, pointedly squeezing Spongebob a little with his arm, because there is no way that this Lord of Chaos has any idea what to do with this. That's fine, though, because Salieri can easily speak truthfully for both of them, even if Discord can't quite put it into words]

We love you, too.

[disharmonizes]

Ah--

[Oh, hugging is happening and for a bit Discord is just kind of hovering awkwardly, not sure what to do? But Salieri is shooting him a look and that's enough for him to awkwardly put his arm around Spongebob also.

He thinks he's doing this right?]

Right. That.

[He pulls back from them, positively beaming now.]

You guys are the best! Despite everything, I'm so glad I met you!

I'm glad I met you also, Spongebob, despite circumstances. Why, I would've never learned anything about ukulele if I hadn't, can you imagine?

[disharmonizes]

[Okay, deep breath, he lived through the hugging without freaking out too much. Nailed it. Friendship is easy.]

What a loss that would have been for the world of music, I'm sure.

Mr. Salieri, does that mean you'll do some music with the ukulele in it? Can I help?

Why not? I could certainly create a character whose theme revolves around the ukulele. Someone bright and cheerful, of course.
