[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

Oh, how Terrible that would be.

[She turns to glance at Peregrine. Even if her body had not forgotten the tension, for a few blissful moments, it had at least slipped her mind. Now that she has time to think, however?]

I think that would do quite well, in fact. If we have any ham or sausages, tartiflette could be a nice option as well. [he glances sidelong at her, with a little bit of curious amusement]

No sword today? [he recalls her using it at the party, but notes its absence now]

Unless someone is, in fact, a sparrow here and they just haven't told us, then I believe I'm safe inside the walls of this kitchen. [dryly, placing said sandwich plates on the tray as well.]

[Maya glances at the food, lifts a brow, but says nothing. She simply lifts up the tray and heads out into the cafeteria to find them a nice place to sit down.]

You are one of the best of us, for that reason and many more.

[It only makes Maya feel all the more guilty for her own outburst. Janis was dealing with her own revelations, but she'd still come through.]

I hope you're right. I... won't pretend to understand much of it, but what the Balladeer has informed me of is remarkable, to say the least.

I gave it to Janis. Before... everything happened.

[She seems content to leave it at that but... after a moment, her brow pinches.]

It seemed dangerous to leave it in my hands for the time being.

Well, that quiets his amusement. It's...understandable, all things considered, and he isn't going to push--but then Maya speaks up again]

The Wizard has put many of us in a difficult position again, it seems, however...[he frowns, concerned]

...I'm sorry, about your friend. That she's missing.

[Cassandra's brow raises, slowly knitting together. Nope, don't think you can just walk that lil bit back.]

Okay. I know I ask this kind of thing a lot, but... "Harvard"?

[he'll simply meet that raised eyebrow with one of his own, putting the bread away before going to follow her into the cafeteria and moving to sit once she's picked out a table.]

A fake bear in the woods. [Beats real bears, but still.] I'd ask who would even go through all the trouble, but we're currently trapped in a school run by a wizard, so I guess that answers that question.

Excellent. [he'll move to pick up that pie, then, coming around the table to head towards the kitchen, leaving his haul behind]

If you want to get the plates and silverware, I'll get the tea started.

[He's right on that much. Another meeting is going to be desperately needed - if just to make certain that everyone is operating on the same page.

Cassandra catches herself at his question, hanging from the edge of it. Pulling herself back up, she offers her best answer: a shrug.]

Maybe? I... think I might have to. [which is no small feat to express for her. It takes considerable, visible effort.]

[somewhere, someone is laughing in Investigation Bad Decisions.

Salieri, however, can't help but look a little startled as she looks at him and says that--and then immediately looks guilty, glancing away. No one's really exactly brought it up yet, and he hasn't seen fit to mention that he hasn't been sleeping very well since Sunday. Insofar, he's fairly certain the only one who knows is Discord, but that's mostly due them sharing a similar issue.

He has been feeling tired. He's been feeling exhausted actually, but has his makeup to thank for keeping him looking mostly the same. Fortunately, he already wore heavy eyeliner when he got here, and that has been his saving grace.

That, and putting his focus into the people around him. It's been keeping him going in a lot of ways, and has kept his mind off of, well...everything. It's odd; he would never call himself a selfless person. Living in Court taught him to be selfish and to watch his own back first and foremost. But here...in such a short amount of time, all of that's completely changed. He cares for everyone here. Even people he would normally find annoying, naive or not worth his time he's come to care for, deeply. It's dangerous to do so in a place like this; a place where death seems to keep happening around them, despite their every attempt to prevent it.

And yet, he's far too deep in now to stop.

So to that pointed statement he...doesn't have a reply]

[ Rina beams - well the board does but you know - before giggling. ]

Oh? [he looks a bit bemused at that, at the mischievous face she holds up]

So I need to figure out whose bracelet it matches, then?

[ Rina watches him leave, a painful feeling welling up in her chest... this horrible sense of dread. She knows this has been a hard week for everyone, but for Varian especially and it breaks her heart. She's noticed all the little things and how tense he's been, but yesterday she thought... she helped...

[ She knows in the back of her mind that it's not her fault. Varian had a horrible dream and the motive and Balladeer's death yesterday have just made it worse. But she's still just an insecure teenager who's never been in a relationship before, and a part of her can't help but feel like it might be her fault. Maybe she shouldn't have even questioned anything just now. Just did as he said. Maybe she should be doing more... maybe she should be holding him more, talking more, singing more, anything.

Her legs feel weak so she crouches on the ground, burying her face in her knees as she hugs them close to herself. ]

[ Even she knows she's not that subtle. ]

[ She nods and stands, following him to retrieve the plates and silverware.

As she does, she...quietly asks: ] What do you think'll happen, once we leave this place? Like...if...something bad happened, back home... Do you think we'll just...go right back to that?

[ Oh, that's...kind of unexpected? She stares at Maya, as if trying to glean something more. ]

...It messed you up. Anyone coulda seen that. I didn't wanna leave you alone.

[ And yet, she couldn't do anything, really. Is this how Lexy felt...? ]

[ She shakes her head, clueless. ] I don't...understand it. It's all wrong.

There's the green lizards.

He could've just painted the whole school!

[Which like, sounds horrible to live in, but.]

And the halls could've had yellow bricks. I'll have to try and find that movie, show it to everyone.

[ He nods, frowning a little in concern. ]

[ It's a promise, as much as a goodbye. ]

[ That's a concerning answer. Orpheus's brow furrows a bit, looking worried. ]

I think it's complicated, for some of us here. Is it because you have promises you need to keep to people, back there?

Sure. [ says Orpheus, smiling a little. ] It's supposed to be a partnered dance, anyway. You just do it side-by-side. Here.

[ He'll step aside to give her some space, then go through the first few steps of the dance again, slower this time so she can watch his footwork and pick it up for herself. ]
