Week Four

[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[Cassandra flinches back.

I'm... [In the low light, her eyes shine. She blinks wetly.] Fine. I'm fine. Totally, I-I just... It was a bad dream.

[Since they'd finally been freed of the confines of the school, it made sense that everyone would be outside, enjoying the world. Being cooped up for so long, trapped inside a building... the iron wasn't lost on Cassandra these past few weeks.

It comes as no surprise that there's jabs at them thrown into this "gift". The benches were one thing. She hasn't sat on one, yet, not after noticing the inscriptions on them. And it looked like she wasn't the only one.]

He wanted to see you perform?

[She hates to appear out of nowhere. It just... happens sometimes.]

auto shop

[From the distant corner of the parking lot, even there, Cassandra can hear noises from the open doors of the auto shop. Mercifully, it snaps her out of the trance she's been stuck in... for obvious reasons.

Varian. He can't possibly...

She drifts inside, finding him elbow-deep in his work, as always.]

Varian? Are you doing this?

[Spongebob wakes up after the sleepover bright and early, as normal. He almost immediately heads back to the Rodgers Dorm to get his clothes for the day when he sees all the coins next to his bed.

...He's been a little inconsistent on making breakfast for everyone, which he admittedly feels pretty guilty about, but it doesn't take that long to use the concession stand. Right?

Spongebob as usual, likes most of his stuff, he is painfully easy to please, after all. But when the maid dress pops out he seems really annoyed, much more annoyed than usual.]

Ugh, was this stupid thing really in there this whole time? Is the Wizard trying to send a message?

[This is maybe the first thing Spongebob's been really tempted to toss something out

But eventually, a snail pops out. Spongebob is stunned.]

G... Gary?

["Gary" meows, and Spongebob instantly starts crying and hugging the snail.]

Oh Gary I thought I would never see you again! How long have you been hanging out in there? I bet you're hungry after all this time! There's no snail food here so how about some homemade breakfast?

[Gary meows again and climbs on top of his shoulder.]

Alright, one order of pancakes for Gary coming up!

[Spongebob goes to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone and Gary. He looks like this is the happiest he's been since before the first murder, cheerfully babbling to Gary while he flips an absurd amount of pancakes.

After breakfast, he's spending most of his day in the garden, cuddling his pet snail while enjoying the outside air.

For once, he feels content.]

Hi, Mr. Balladeer, what's up? Or... down, I guess.

Perhaps they did, but do you think Maya's friend would kill someone? A little girl? And alien who did not even understand where she was?

I don’t—- I don’t know! All I know is—-

Riley was my captain. And then—- [Farrah shrinks. Her voice, and her posture are small, and she hugs herself. The hug itself looks a little awkward, with the way she pulls her arms across her body, but depending on how closely Angus looked at her photo, he may recognize that she’s covering the places where she was stabbed.]

She deserved it!

[This girl was murdered by her leader. A wicked girl who made herself seem as non-threatening as possible when they first met, and Farrah has suffered. But if she is alive, does that mean that the wounds were not fatal?

And folds his arms and shifts his weight a few times.]

If this was some time ago, we must have all escaped and gotten our memories wiped of the event. Whoever The Phantom was, he was not powerful enough to trap us together for long. Even if Riley survived...it means that I have lived through one of these. It must be possible to defeat The Wizard.

[That has to be something positive to glean from all this.]

A what? Is that a local legend?

[He has to relearn the entire story this round.]

[Farrah hesitates, she really doesn’t like even the idea that Riley should have survived something like this—- did she have something to do with Farrah ending up here? Still...]

If you did it with Riley, then it’s twice as possible with me around.

Garden

[As much of Spongebob's "home movies" as Varian did manage to watch during his no-murder party, Gary isn't someone he actually got to see. Not in the flesh from what he saw, anyway...but he has heard of Gary. Spongebob told him about his beloved pet snail a while back, and Varian assured him that wherever he was, he was probably okay.

Well, now he can hardly believe his eyes. He's...relieved to know he was right, but he thought Gary was like. Tiny? An actual garden snail, like the ones you'd have in a terrarium?? He didn't find the notion of keeping him fed too odd since everything needs to eat but now he...thinks he might understand that a bit more.

Either way, Varian of course is going to approach once he realizes what he's looking at, getting down on both knees in front of the pair.]

Is...that Gary?!

[alchemistake]

[Varian blinks. Then blinks some more. Then he remembers what Maya said the other day.

...

......he waves back, his brows raising even higher.

Time for more hushed whispering.]

I didn't, uhh- wake you up, did I?

[alchemistake]

[Poor Peregrine. This isn't at all how Varian knows her to be. He can't exactly blame her of course, considering the events of the past weekend, but...it's still hard to see her like this.

He stays put where he is on the other bench, tapping his fingers against his knees as he tries to think of what to say.]

Yeah.

[Eloquent...]

They're...really nice, at least.

[Well made, he means. He's not sure Peregrine needs to hear his thoughts on how they don't really feel all that respectful to him right now.]

And in this garden, too...it's a good place for something like it.

[She won. Well that doesn't surprise him even a little.]

Man...that sounds exhausting. How many schoolmates do you have, exactly?

[alchemistake]

Well, the good news is I don't think having a license or not even matters here. It's not like we're going to come across anyone who would stop us from driving it, I don't think...Hester hasn't come out here to stop me in all of the time I've been working on it, anyway.

[And he knows some of them can drive.]

[alchemistake]

[That gets Varian laughing a little as he looks over to where Ruddiger is just...literally a blur, rushing up another tree until he finds a knothole he can dive into. He's so fat that he can barely squeeze in, but he seems content with it either way.]

He sure does. He doesn't mind being indoors at this point, but...I think not getting to go outside at all was bothering him more than it was bothering me.

[alchemistake]

[When Varian resurfaces from the car, he's once again smeared with grease, but he looks pretty damn pleased with himself. Even if he doesn't know how to actually maneuver the car out...it's running.]

Who else? I told you I'd get it working.

[alchemistake]

[Varian shakes his head a little, looking...exhausted, actually.]

No. I was already awake, so...you're fine.

.....yeah, I did.

[Seems like it's a pattern, now.]

Was it bad?

[ Oh… she notices how exhausted he looks and starts to worry. ]

Did you sleep well? Was it, um… too uncomfortable with me here?

[ Maybe two nights was pushing it. ]

Auto Shop

[Angus knocks on the door before entering with a long coil of rope. His investigation outside was not entirely fruitful, but Varian will be able to help with that.]

Varian! [He shouts with the volume of a prince addressing a crowd.] I required your aid!

[alchemistake]

Angus-? Ow-

[Varian had sat up so quickly that he knocked his head against the steeringwheel, but after a moment of rubbing the spot he's able to climb out from the front of the car, dusting off the front of his clothes.]

Hey, what's up? Is something wrong?

[ Peregrine is exploring, warily, when she comes across Eurydice. She sees her lying there, and even though it’s bright and sunny, even though it’s beautiful out, her heart lurches and she rushes forward in fear. ]

Eurydice— are you okay, what- what happened?

[mcfife]

[He squats by the car and holds out the rope.]

I need you to turn this into a grappling hook. I plan to scale the building and see what is on the higher floors.

[for once, Salieri is not out of the dorm at sunrise. So that greeting will make him blink a couple times, not recognizing the voice. He turns his head slightly--though he has to lean out of the bottom bunk a bit to look up at the bunk across the way]

Good...morning? [hm????]
