second trial
[Just as with last week, once the investigation finishes, that slow, ominous sound from the main lobby rumbles through the opera house.
The doors to the court room have opened and the time has come for a trial.
The court room looks just as it did before: the grand chandelier glittering above your heads, the fine red velvet seats. In the orchestra pit your circle of wooden podiums awaits you, just the same as before save for a few recent additions. Like Valjean before them, D-ne, Gabe, and Hime's podiums have been draped in black crepe with their greyscale funerary portraits. Behind them, where the performers themselves stood only a week ago, a metal pole stands with a softly glowing lightbulb atop it.
The curtain is closed, waiting to open when a decision has been reached and an execution can commence.
When everyone is in their places, the Balladeer's voice echoes loud and clear through the theatre. He still sounds slightly bewildered by all of this.]
Okay, everyone, you all know how this works now. Trial rules are the same, still no time limit, just...keep at it until you figure out what happened. You can do this.

Death Box
I...found this down in the second floor lobby.

[ Yikes. ]
Did it-- are the corners splintered, too?
no subject
[And indeed there are some splinters. Though the box is pretty sturdy otherwise.]

[She frowns at this. She's not good at this whole murder thing like her other self apparently is]
What about the rope? Could that have been used as a weapon, too?
no subject
[ Hans has some rope, too. ]
The only rope I found seems to have been tied to the cow after it was used to hit someone.

The smaller splinters in his hand, though - possibly from the box?

HmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmm hang on]
Hit more than once?
no subject
Don't get me wrong, he was hit with a lot of force, but it looks like whoever did it managed to do it right the first time.
[oh jesus christ billy can you not for once in your miserable life]

[With everything being said, from the motive, to the two killers, to...the cow and the rope and other confusing stuff, she looks a bit reluctant to say it. Incidentally, she's looking over at Natalie, slightly worried.]
...I might.

[He feels sick even as he says it. How could none of them hear a girl screaming in pain as she thumped down a staircase? Shame on everyone, and shame on Raoul.]

If there was no blood on the wound on her forehead, it could have been anything... both the box and the cow were stained with blood.

It's not impossible, but it'd be quite sad if... the murderer was protecting Hime.
[ And then they have to go and sentence that murderer to death, yikes. ]
But that's a bit outlandish, I don't think we have enough evidence to assume that.

Gabriel was hit from behind and Hime was hit from the front. It's might not... be far-fetched to assume that there was a second killer who was trying to save Hime. If Gabriel really is the first killer at all.
