it's a party! time to mingle!

[ The mood may be shifting as the days go by, but Hans is still totally confident that everybody's still working together on the whole "not murdering" thing! Definitely. I mean, a guy can dream, right? In any case, this morning upon leaving your room you may find a folded note under your door. Unless you're a really early riser, then you're going to have to come back to get your invitation. Sorry, bro. ]
Dear [Your Name]((It really will say your name, he hand wrote these!))

I think we can all agree that this situation is far from ideal. It's fair to have doubts and expect the worse, but if we all stick to our morals I'm sure we can wait this out together. We can't let the Management think they can get us down with false promises and their crazy rules.

With that in mind, I hope you'll consider joining me in the Dining Room tonight for some refreshments, snacks, and a good chance for us all to spend some time together. There will be wine and champagne for those who wish to partake in it, as well as crackers and cheese and whatever I was able to find in the kitchen (I can't cook, but if anyone wants to bring anything, feel free!) If drinking and dining isn't your thing, maybe we can sit around and trade stories from home.

I look forward to seeing you there.

-- Prince Hans

(P.S. Set-up is at 5pm if anyone wants to help.)
[ Whether you're here early to help with set up or showing up fashionably late, the dining hall has been... well, not so much decorated really, but there's music coming from somewhere, maybe. Hans dragged the piano over from the music room and set it up in a corner, that should work. Plus if we all keep humming, music plays itself in the background, that's how it works, right?

The refreshments are laid out on a table with flutes of champagne and wine glasses, and beside it you'll find, besides champagne and fine wine, a pitcher of water, maybe some juice and soda from the kitchen. It's all self-serve, so have fun with that. There are also some snacks: crackers and sliced cheeses and what-have-you nearby, complete with napkins and forks to serve yourself.

Not a drinker or much of a partier? That's alright, you can just hang out! A stack of playing cards is laid out by one end of the dining table, looking perfectly inviting for anyone who wants to give that a try. And Hans did promise there'd be stories from home to pass the time, so perhaps find yourself a group of people willing to listen and tell the group about the real you!

...Or if you'd rather avoid the whole mess entirely, stick to the wall and hope no one sees you. That's not suspicious at all. I mean, the dining hall is big enough for twenty, right?

...Good evening to you, Mister Balladeer.

[Raoul may not like this guy but he won't be rude, he has wine and it's a fucking party. You just don't be an asshole at a party.]

How are you this fine evening?
tellthestory: (♪ prelude ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-21 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Balladeer glances once more around the room before answering.]

Pretty good, I guess. How're you doing?
dechagny: (cannot believe)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-22 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Raoul shrugs, glancing at his wine glass.] A bit better than I have been, but mostly the same. A bit bored, perhaps. But, I am aware that you've supplied quite a bit of kindness to us so far, which I am thankful for.

[Translation: thanks for getting Hans the wine for this shindig bro]
tellthestory: (♪ beat ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-22 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You're...welcome? [He's not sure if he was being thanked for real there, but he's gonna act like he was.] Yeah, I didn't anticipate how boring a lot of this would be. Lotta downtime!
dechagny: (will smugly concede)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a thanks. Sort of. A begrudging Raoul thanks.]

Even for you, sir? Surely you have a bit more freedom than just the box office - I would hope you do, considering that the kitchen and bathrooms are out here.
tellthestory: (♪ capriccio ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-24 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
There's bathrooms back in the staff area.

[yes, guys, the Balladeer showers]

And a little kitchen - yours is way better than mine, honestly. Not that it matters, I can't cook. There's not a whole lot else going on though.
dechagny: (aint no viscount got time for that)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-24 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, neither can I! But that being said, I am taking the time to learn.

Now, when you say it's a lesser kitchen then ours, do you mean it is smaller?

[Like, less stuff would probably be a relief? Raoul has enough hurdles with the microwave.]
tellthestory: (Default)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-24 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Smaller, not as much fancy stuff. Yours was probably supposed to be for fixing food for opera patrons back in the day, so I guess it makes sense.

I have been trying to teach myself! The pre-packaged stuff's easy, but it's not really healthy to eat that all the time. It'd be nice if I could find some cookbooks or something...
dechagny: (here to help)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Really? With all of these amenities? It is rather elaborate, I will admit.

[A cookbook huh? Management won't even hand over one of those? That's a shame. But now, Raoul wonders if he could get one, too.]

Is there anything in particular you'd like to cook? Asking, for curiosity's sake.
tellthestory: (♪ capriccio ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-25 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Wellll, I'm also cooking just for me. It'd be ridiculous to have that much food lying around.

[That's an interesting question, though, and he considers it for a moment.]

I don't know! I've never had to think about it before. I didn't have a kitchen at all before I came here, so I didn't worry about it then.
dechagny: (here to help)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[What sort of world did the Balladeer come from? Even Raoul's house had a kitchen, though he had never used one before coming to this place.]

If I happen to find something lying around somewhere, I would be glad to bring it to you. Though, there do not seem to be many books in an opera house.
tellthestory: (♪ verismo ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-26 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt it was a priority. You don't need them in an opera house, when it's working as an actual opera house.

[And not, you know, people's living quarters]

At least I can entertain myself pretty well with the instruments. I spent almost a whole day getting everything tuned and set up in there. [He tilts his head in the direction of the music room.]
dechagny: (is not a total douchebag)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-26 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
But it's not really working as an actual opera house now - for us, at least. And besides, it's not as if I've seen everything this place has to offer. I could find something surprising.

[Like a body. Tomorrow.]

You really set them all up yourself?
tellthestory: (♪ verismo ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-26 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure! I find it relaxing - I'd never even been around that many instruments at once before.

Do you play at all?
dechagny: (is not a total douchebag)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-27 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I don't, sadly - out of all the activities I was involved in during my boyhood, music was not part of them. I do admire musicians, though. They work very hard for their craft, which is very respectable.
tellthestory: (♪ prelude ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-27 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's right, you are patron at an opera house, aren't you?

[ha ha ha not like this one Raoul's is such a nice normal opera house]

What a nice thing to say. Always good to see appreciation for the arts!
dechagny: (will smugly concede)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-27 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mmgh these strangers knowing things about him is so awkward but then again he has made no secret of his patronage. Also HAH normal. Yeah. Super normal. It's great.]

I am, though I am still new to it. But a friend of mine, her father is a musician, and I have reasonable respect for him.

[But also Monsiuer Daae is dead so.]
tellthestory: (♪ capriccio ♫)

[personal profile] tellthestory 2016-10-28 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
You know, you could try to pick up an instrument while you're here, if you wanted. It's not like you're lacking for free time.

[this place is such a drag not a single murder yet gosh]
