[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.

You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!

The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.

Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.

[Sigyn was coming into the kitchen for a snack while she sorted through the prop room for useful items. "Was" being the optimum word, because as soon as she sees Ariel in here in all the protective gear it is clear that this might be a bit more important]

Stephen? What are you doing?

[Ariel's head pops up. He glances over to Sigyn and... smiles apologetically.]

Another theory. Stephen and I previously attempted to use one acidic substance against the hinges of the door. I am trying a handful more today.

Is it safe to do in the kitchen? [You know, where we make the food?]

It is probably safest to do in the kitchen. Proper airflow and all of that. And any mess will be promptly cleaned up.

[He sounds confident at least.]

Is it a different pH, or a different type of acid all togehter?

A different acid meant for a different type of metal. We used Aqua Regia previously -- good for noble metals. This... [He taps on one of the containers] Will do well for copper.

Aqua Fortis, we call it. But yes, exactly that.

You are familiar with alchemy as well, then?

I picked up some chemistry here and there. Acids were particularly useful for destroying Asgardian tech. [Can't fix a hard drive that has a hole through it.]

Dare I ask why you felt the need to destroy tech?

[He's only just learning about harnessing electricity, the idea of destroying something like that is distressing]

Asgard has a nasty habit of using it to hurt people. If we can't repurpose it, better to destroy it.

That is... incredibly unfortunate. [Science used to hurt? That's very upsetting.]

But I can hardly condemn you for wanting to protect others.

Everyone has to make hard choices sometimes. And it's not like technology is in short supply where I'm from.

I suppose that's what sets us apart. Any sort of advancement would be devastating to lose where I am from. For you... The answer is simple, I am sure.

Above all, it is as you said. We must make hard choices, sacrifices even, from time to time.

Hopefully those sacrifices don't have to include acid in our lunches.

[She smiles]

I was going to make a sandwich. You want one too.

[Ariel laughs, a little sheepish, but ultimately a pleasant sound.]

I assure you, I will avoid getting any acid in places where it could harm others, and clean up any messes that do arise.

But... yes, a sandwich would be wonderful.

[Sigyn grabs the ingredients from the cabinets]

Was there any reaction with the last acid you tried?

I am sure that, whatever that is, I will enjoy it.

[He shakes his head as he carefully measures out a few more chemicals.]

Nothing, unfortunately. In truth, it would not surprise me if they were under the same influence as the door itself, charmed in some way or another. But I cannot allow myself to stop.

Other than locating the Phantom and forcing him to release us, the door seems like our best option. [Norns know brute force didn't seem to work]

It's that or the secret passageways. [He steps away from his work, stretching out as he does.]

I won't rest until we figure it out.
