[Six weeks later, and eleven performers remain.

The opera house is much the same when Monday morning dawns this week. It seems you've truly gone as high as you can go - there is no fifth floor, and no sign of any other new areas. The air has grown colder, like perhaps someone failed to adjust the heating for the winter weather that's supposedly happening just outside. Javert and Astarte's stars are still firmly affixed to their doors; it seems you might have to try a little harder to learn their secrets.

[He drains the rest of his drink and then gets up to get some plain ice.]

You know, you could probably go to the future if you want. After- after this.

[ Hans takes a sip again, finishing off his drink to prove he ain't gonna lose to Billy. ]

Me? Where would I go?

[Hans you weirdo this isn't a drinking contest]

Uh. Anywhere? In fact, you have my full permission to go back to 2008 for me. You'd fit right in.

[trettende]

[ Everything is a contest when you're Hans. ]

I guess it's possible. I could get used to the technology eventually.

[ He pauses, thinking about who he could go with. Er, and where, of course. ]

Billy Flynn's world would probably be good, too. He seems to be doing well for himself.

Yeah, if you want to owe him for bringing you back with him.

[Sure, go get you a sugar daddy.]

I guess if you want to pull your usual MO your best target probably would be a rich older white guy.

Ugh, no thanks.

[ Hans grimaces. He's not interested in a dude that's literally just like looking in the mirror, yikes. ]

Wow, that's rude. You don't think I could have learned something, being trapped here this long?

Maybe learned how to hide it better.

[He rolls an ice cube around in his mouth and lets it melt.]

I think you're not a threat to any of us in here.

[trettende]

Maybe.

[ Hans shrugs. Maybe he learned how to have two whole friends, he sure wouldn't tell you, Billy. ]

I don't want to be a threat. I'd like to live through this.

Believe it or not, I believe that.

We need to work together to get out of here. Not- not just you and me, but all of us. There's no room for fighting anymore, and I think that the showrunners know that. That's why they split us up like this.

[trettende]

[ He knew you could be practical, Billy. That's what this all comes down to, really. ]

Exactly. We don't have time for petty feuds. The only way we're making it out of this is if we all pool our resources and work together. We must have been getting close to a breakthrough for them to have done this.

[inforapenny]

[Science is the most practical.

Billy turns to face Hans, then, and holds out his hand.]

[ He'll shake his hand, why not? They've been stuck here for more than a month, Hans can give up on being petty for this. ]

[And then Billy takes his hand back and fills his glass up again - with just cola, this time.]

[ Hans will go ahead and offer his glass again, though he's already grabbing the rum to add to his drink. ]

I guess you're not so bad.

[inforapenny]

[He does fill up his glass, leaving room for Hans to add as much rum as he likes.]

A glowing recommendation.

[A little bit of sarcasm.]

[trettende]

[ Hans snorts, adding a layer of rum to his glass, thanks. ]

Don't ruin it. I've been up for way too long to start arguing with you right now.

Same, honestly. I mean, I do this all the time back- back where I come from, but that's... the thrill of discovery and the wonder of invention. Not, uh. Not the unbearable frustration of not being able to find a solution.

[trettende]

Do what? Banter with men you hate? Invent blow torches from things you found laying around?

[inforapenny]

Stay up for three days straight without being able to really eat?

...I mean I did the banter thing, too, obviously, and I had my own blow torch back in my lab so I didn't have to build one.

[trettende]

Oh, that too.

[ Hans takes a sip of his drink. ]

Admittedly, I'm not nearly as used to staying up this long.
