The Phantom was Evan Hansen! Possessed by the SQUIP, but his body was being used! That's why Conner was taken here!

[He runs to his conspiracy board by his bed and attachea a string between "The Phantom" and "Connor Murphy" then adds a new phrase - "Evan Hansen, dead during our captivity". It's all fitting together now.]
