You know how you use Mister or Miss to refer to people...?
Back in Japan we do a similar thing but with honorifics we put at the end of the name. Like -san which is the most neutral and respectful.
"-chan" is um... more cutesy? You use it a lot for children or people you find endearing or girls you're really close to... but if you don't know the person well it can be a little condescending.
