Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

He just...he got it. I wanted to know...what it was like, for him. For Jacob. I wanted to make sure it never happened to me. Then...it wouldn't all be for nothing. And Howl... He's helping me learn how.

Oh, the survival training. Yeah, he sounds like he knows that stuff.

[From the things he's said, obviously, but even without that - just his voice, the way he speaks. Something about that guy, even as he's carrying on about philosophy and Marcus Aurelius, makes him sound like he knows what he's talking about. The Balladeer normally hates references to ancient Rome, too.]

[He points to a small pile of stuff next to the vending machine as he gets up, still holding the apple.]

Oh, it's actually really simple. [ OF COURSE IT IS, PEREGRINE, ] You gotta dig a hole in the ground— well, you can use a can, or an old wood stove? But a hole's best if you're just roughing it. Start a fire and let it burn for like...thirty minutes? An hour? Enough to get a buncha coals. You put the coals in the hole, and get some punky wood— uh, wood that's all...rotten, you know?

Anyway, it causes a bunch of smoke to come up. You gotta hang your hide over it— that's a whole other thing, you gotta make it kinda like a pouch, like a bag? Sometimes you gotta use an old pant leg to direct the smoke, and...

[ She frowns. ]

It'd be a lot easier to draw this, I think.

What we do on stage is choreographed with false weapons for months prior. We practice until there can be no errors. Meanwhile, many of the weapons we do use are blunted.

The Revues, on the other hand, are entirely improvised. It's not a duel to the death, but it's not without its risks.

Eric and Woodsley, they kept it distracted with some pots and pans, and John Francis got the— someone's dog kept tryin' to fight it, so he was trying to get it to stand down. And me, I gave it a "predator" to be scared of.

[ Oh, she looks so proud of herself. ]
