[Just like Orpheus, Varian doesn't exactly have any experience with modern inventions such as fire alarms, so he's about as shocked as Orpheus is when that ringing suddenly starts to blare, never mind the deluge of water that douses them immediately after. He holds his arms over his head (it doesn't do any good) and immediately starts to scan the room for the source of the noise, and sure enough...
He doesn't know yet it's purpose, but he can see a little device stuck to the ceiling with a light affixed to it, and the device itself is what the noise is coming from.]

At least the water is easily figured out, what with the spigots lining the ceiling for some such occasion. Not that Varian noticed them until now...]
